![]() Other 1958/64 FE's have a generator, use a different pump.īelieve it, or not: With/without a generator does makes a difference! And.the pump used in 1964 (with a generator) is one year only, not the same as 1958/63. Waterpump: 1963/64 Thunderbirds have alternators (the first FoMoCo vehicles to have it as standard equipment), use the same waterpump as all 1965/76 FE's. ![]() Truck FE exhaust manifolds are not the same as any FE passenger car are three different types of these manifolds. Sorry, I cannot recall what the differences are between these two parts. Oil Pan Pickup Tube Screen & Cover Assy: 1961/66 352/390 Galaxie/LTD / 1965/76 F100/350 FE's with 2WD only / 1966 428 Galaxie Police Cruiser. There is an oil fill tube on the right (passenger) side.ġ965/76 FE engines have pent roof shaped valve covers with holes for oil caps/smog valve, there is no oil fill tube.ġ958/66 FE engines use a thermostat that is 2 1/2" in diameter / 1967/76: 2 1/4" in diameter. Prior years (1954/64) used Y blocks.ġ958/64 FE engines have rounded valve covers with no provisions for oil caps/smog valve. If the VIN begins with 4 = 1964If it is a 1964: You are going to have to fabricate motor mounts, the 1958/64 FE engine blocks have a two hole bolt pattern where the rubber insulators bolt to the block.ġ965/76 FE engine blocks have a different bolt pattern and number of bolt holes (can't recall, it's either 3 or 4) / 1965 was the first year the FE engine was installed in F100/350's. How much besides the motor will work from a truck if I was to put it into a 1964 Thunderbird?ġ964/65 T-Birds look almost identical, only have minor trim differences. They are a touch shorter the autolites/holleys so that could give me the last 1/4 inch I need. The last option and the most expensive is to go to a 4 barrel, and use the edelbrock carb. The stock air cleaner is 2" off the carb to clear the choke mechanism. Then I will use Edelbrocks foam air-cleaner which is 1 inch tall and it can be brought down a bit more if nessacary. The 390 is a 2 barrel autolite so I will grind off the choke tower, and file it down so it as flat as I can accomplish in my garage. It was the style of heads that changed more then the manifolds, and since they are still log type its not a big deal.Īs for the intake conspiricy this seems to be the only hurdle, but I do have options here that I have done in the past. Itll run on regular, but youll hear something akin to marbles when you step on the gas. Basically your 390 is a high compression engine, and requires a higher octane to prevent pre-ignition, or knocking. The calculation for octane today is different from back then. I have found other forums which say I can use truck manifold in a T-bird or Mustang. Gary Tayman said: The 91 should run just fine. Summitracing list the same oil pan for trucks and cars stock. I can put a late motor where an early on sits easily, but get difficult going the other way.
